- Worrying Symptoms
As a GP, I see on-going tummy pain as a common concern; it is not unusual but can be caused by a number of different conditions.
The pain could be coming from your bowels, and for women, your uterus or your ovaries, so it is important to discuss this with your GP if it is persistent and not getting better. If tummy pain accompanies any of the following this should not be ignored:
• Persistent or Worsening pain
• Tummy bloating
• Irregular vaginal bleeding (not as per your usual menstrual cycle or bleeding that has re-started after menopause)
• A change in your usual bowel habit (either going more frequently or not going as often)
• Weight loss or loss of appetite
• Nausea or vomiting
• Worsening reflux
• Blood in your stools
See your GP with any of the above symptoms, as they should not be ignored.
